Seeking Refuge Project (Geelong)

The Seeking Refuge Project (SRP) in Geelong is conducting a further round of recruitment and seeking Volunteer Lawyers (willing to register as Migration Agents), Migration Agents and Volunteer Administrative Assistants to assist Asylum Seekers to apply for their Protection Visas. We would require volunteers to be able to commit until at least July 2017.

The Seeking Refuge Project in Geelong is currently assisting Asylum Seekers from Geelong and the Western Suburbs who need to apply for their Protection Visas under the Fast Track Assessment process.

These people have fled another country where they have experienced, or were at risk of experiencing torture and persecution and have come to Australia to seek safety and now have one opportunity to seek protection by applying for Protection Visa.

The visa application process is very complex, and requires a detailed written statement outlining their case for a visa. Everything needs to be completed in English.

Please follow this link to read about the application process and the 60 day letters Asylum Seekers are currently receiving: http://www.theage.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/slow-track-to-dawn-asylum-seekers-submit-their-futures-on-an-excruciating-process-20170309-guv1g8.html

These people need our help!
